Len Wiseman is an American horror film director, producer and screenwriter born in Fremont, California on March 4th, 1973. He is best known as the driving force behind the Underworld film series. He wrote and directed the first film in the series, Underworld, during which he became engaged to leading actress Kate Beckinsale. Beckinsale and Wiseman were married on May 9th, 2004. In 2006, he directed the first sequel to Underworld titled Underworld: Evolution. Wiseman also served as executive producer and screenwriter on the film as well. For the third film in the franchise, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Len Wiseman worked as a producer and writer. Kate Beckinsale was not fully involved with this installment (though she did make an appearance) and the lead role went to Rhona Mitra. In 2011, Len co-wrote and co-produced the fourth movie in the series, Underworld: Awakening, which was released on January 20th, 2012.
