Saw 3D[]

Saw 3D starts with an extended version of the ending to the original Saw film as Gordon crawls himself over to a steaming pipe and cauterizes his stump against it before passing out. Gordon is seen again in the film attending Bobby Dagen's seminar which features various attendees who survived previous Jigsaw games, giving a sarcastic slow clap to Bobby (as Bobby is later revealed to have never been a test subject, causing him to be kidnapped and placed in the games for real.)

During the film's ending, Mark Hoffman has destroyed all evidence tying back to him and prepares to leave town as he is suddenly attacked by three people in pig masks, the leader of the group injecting Hoffman in the neck with a needle. The leader is revealed to be Gordon, much to Hoffman's surprise as flashbacks show us more of the story: After passing out from the shock of his injury, he is discovered by John Kramer who nurses him back to health and fits him with a prosthetic foot. Gordon then begins working as a secret accomplice for John and doing things such as sewing the key behind Michael Marks eye in Saw II, recommending his colleague Lynn Denlon for John's brain surgery in Saw III, sewing Trevor's eyes shut as well as Art Blank's mouth in Saw IV and leaving Hoffman the "I know who you are" note that Hoffman mistakenly assumed was from Peter Strahm in Saw V. As part of John's will, Gordon is left a videotape thanking him for his loyalty over the years and John gives him one final task: To watch over Jill Tuck and act immediately on his behalf should anything happen to her. Gordon later takes Hoffman to the bathroom where he was once chained up so many years ago, shackling him by his ankle near the decomposed corpses of Adam Stanheight and Zep Hindle. As Hoffman lunges for the saw, Gordon pulls it towards him with his cane and smirks at Hoffman, saying "I don't think so" as he tosses the saw out into the hallway, denying Hoffman the same option of escape as he had. Gordon departs the bathroom, staring at his severed, decomposed foot on the way out while Hoffman screams at him. Gordon says "Game over" and shuts the bathroom door as Hoffman's fate is left unknown.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The character of Lawrence Gordon was created by director & screenwriter James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell.
  • Lawrence Gordon is the only known surviving character from the original Saw film as his wife and daughter make no further appearances, leaving their fates unknown.
  • The initial plot for Saw III would have seen Lawrence and his wife Alison in the roles that Lynn and Jeff Denlon had in the final film, respectively. However, this was likely changed due to the lawsuit Cary Elwes had with Twisted Pictures in 2005 over profits from the first Saw film. Lawrence wouldn't make another appearance in the series until Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.
