Biography

Lafayette Reynolds was one of the more colorful characters found in the Southeastern town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. A flamboyant homosexual, Lafayette divided his time amongst a variety of occupations and noteworthy pursuits that many would likely look down upon. During the day, worked as a laborer for the Renard Parish Public Works road crew. At night, he was often found flipping burgers at Merlotte's Bar and Grill. In his free time, Lafayette sold drugs, including v-juice, ran a gay pornographic web site and occasionally found work as a go go dancer or prostitute.

Lafayette was working the grill the night that his boss, Sam Merlotte, decided to hire his cousin Tara as a bartender. He was rather shocked that Sam would hire his irritible cousin, citing, "...you should not be allowed to work in no situation where you actually gotta interact with people." Later however, Lafayette drove Tara to a party in Monroe to get her away from inebriated mother. [6][7]

A few days later, Jason Stackhouse, came to Lafayette hoping to buy something that would cure his impotency. Lafayette reminded him that he only sold "illegal" drugs and that he could buy viagra from nearly any corner drug store. Jason didn't want to publicly reveal his inadequacy and begged Lafayette to sell him something that would help him out. Reluctantly, Lafayette decided to seel him a vial of vampire blood, known to be a strong aphrodisiac. He warned Jason that it was very expensive, and consuming too much of it would yield unwanted intense side effects. He also warned him not to tell anyone that he was dealing V. Jason didn't have the money to pay for the V, so Lafayette had him work it off by dancing in front of a video camera wearing nothing but his underwear and a Laura Bush mask. [8]
