His first starring role was in Tim Burton's dark fantasy Edward Scissorhands where he played the main character. Depp made a slight return to his Elm Street roots in 1991 in a cameo appearance in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare as a man on a television set. In this film, Depp was credited under the name Oprah Noodlemantra. Depp teamed up with Tim Burton again for the 1994 Ed Wood, where Depp played the titular character, Edward D. Wood, Jr., a horror/science fiction director responsible for low-budget films such as Plan 9 from Outer Space and Bride of the Monster. Further Burton collaborations include Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and the 2012 remake of Dark Shadows.
