Johnnie and Barbara's mother is a minor character referenced in the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead by director Tom Savini. She was an unnamed woman who died some years ago, presumably of natural causes. She was buried in the Evans City Cemetery in Evans City, Pennsylvania. In 1989, Johnnie and Barbara drove a long distance from where they currently lived to pay their respects. While Barbara was very mournful, Johnnie was quite put out, feeling as if the entire visit was a total waste of time. Johnnie mocked Barbara's fear of cemeteries and stood behind his mother's grave, pretending to be attacked by some unseen menace. An elderly mourner with an open head wound stumbled by their mother's grave randomly muttering apologies.
