His first work in the horror genre was the 1977 film The Possessed where he played a character named Kevin Leahy. In 1981 James played the lead role of Sheriff Dan Gillis in Gary Sherman's Dead & Buried co-starring future horror icon Robert Englund. James Farentino passed away in Los Angeles, California on January 24th, 2012.
