Jack Palance was an American actor born Volodymyr Palanyuk in Lattimer Mines, Pennsylvania on February 18th, 1919. Palance was best known for his rhaspy voice and grizzled features, which often landed him roles as antagonists in various films. His first role in a horror feature was playing the dual parts of Doctor Henry Jekyll and his monstrous alter ego Mister Edward Hyde in the 1968 adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He later went on to play another literary horror icon, Dracula, in the 1973 version of Bram Stoker's Dracula. His other film roles include Tales of the Haunted, Alone in the Dark and Living With the Dead.
