Invisibility is a super-power. It represents the ability to bend light around a person or object, so as to obscure their presence from normal optical perceptions. In layman's terms: Ya can't see their ass! As a storytelling tool used in film, invisibility most often occurs within the science fiction genre, as well as the fantasy genre and its subset, the superhero fantasy genre.
One of the earliest and most well-known examples of invisibility is taken from the 1933 film, The Invisible Man by director James Whale. Drawing upon the original 1897 novel by author H.G. Wells, the story centers around a scientist who develops a means to render himself invisible. However, as one of America's more infamous chief executives once said, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely". Such was the case with Jack Griffin - the Invisible Man, who went insane and believed that he could conquer the world without anyone being able to see him to stop him.
