Hotel Transylvania 2 is an American computer animated feature film of the comedy genre with family-friendly themes relating to the horror genre. It is the second installment in the Hotel Transylvania film series and was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky with a screenplay written by Adam Sandler and Robert Smigel based on concepts originally developed by Todd Durham. It was presented through Columbia Pictures in association with LStar Capital and produced by Media Rights Capital and Sony Pictures Animation. It premiered in the Czech Republic, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates on September 21st, 2015. It was released theatrically in the United States and Canada on September 25th, 2015. The movie sees the returns of many of the voice talents from the first film including Adam Sander as Dracula, Andy Samberg as Jonathan, Selena Gomez as Dracula's daughter, Mavis, Kevin James as the Frankenstein Monster, Steve Buscemi as Wayne, David Spade as Griffin, Fran Drescher as Eunice, and Molly Shannon as Wanda. Keegan-Michael Key also joins the cast as Murray the Mummy, a character previously voiced by CeeLo Green.

When the old-old-old-fashioned vampire Vlad arrives at the hotel for an impromptu family get-together, Hotel Transylvania is in for a collision of supernatural old-school and modern day cool.

  • Hotel Transylvania 2 grossed $48.46 million over its opening weekend, breaking several records, including the best all-time opening for a film in September, as well as the best opening for a Sony Pictures film in 2015. It is also the highest opening for Adam Sandler's career, beating out The Longest Yard from 2005, which grossed $47.6 million during its opening weekend. [1]
  • Before the release of Hotel Transylvania 2 there was already talk about a third film among the studio and the film's producer. On February 6th, 2017, Sony confirmed that Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation would be released on July 13th, 2018 instead of the originally planned September 21st, 2018.
