Host is a British horror film of the supernatural thriller and found footage genres. It was directed by Rob Savage with a script written by Gemma Hurley, Rob Savage, and Jed Shepherd. It was produced by Shadowhouse Films and was released as a Shudder Original on their streaming service on July 30th, 2020.
Plot[]
An American chick and six English friends have been hunkered down in quarantine as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. They hold weekly get-togethers over Zoom and the American, Haley, decides that it would be fun to hold a séance. Haley hosts the meeting and invites her friends Jemma, Emma, Radina, Caroline, and Teddy, as well as a psychic medium named Seylan. During the séance, Jemma decides to be prankish and lies about having an encounter with a tortured spirit. This apparently angers an actual spirit, who begins tormenting each of them in turn. Little by little, the spiritual phenomena grows more intense, until each member of the group meeting find their lives in serious peril.
