Heather Langenkamp is an American actress born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 17th, 1964. She is best known for playing the heroine Nancy Thompson in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Langenkamp's character is notable for being the first on-screen heroine to defeat dream demon serial killer Freddy Krueger as seen in the 1984 Wes Craven film A Nightmare on Elm Street. Langenkamp reprised the role of Nancy in the third installment of the series A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors where the character was killed off at the end of the film. Although Nancy Thompson was gone, Heather Langenkamp was not quite through with the franchise. Ten years later, she appeared in the sixth sequel in the franchise New Nightmare, only this time she played herself. Langenkamp, as a character, was shown being harassed by an obscene phone caller/stalker - a storyline that struck a little too close to home for Langenkamp, who had suffered through her own turmoil with an obsessive fan during production of her short-lived sitcom Just the Ten of Us. Outside of the Nightmare franchise, Langenkamp also played a bit role as a victim in Wes Craven's 1989 horror film Shocker.
