Hallie Stokes is a recurring character featured on the 1960s daytime Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. Played by actress Kathleen Cody, she first appeared in episode 1070 in July, 1970. She made twenty-seven appearances on the series in total.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Hallie Stokes is the orphaned niece of Professor Timothy Eliot Stokes. In 1970, she came to live at Collinwood in Collinsport, Maine. She befriended David Collins and tutored under governess Maggie Evans. Hallie Stokes was soon possessed by the ghost of her 19th century ancestor Carrie Stokes, who in turn, was being manipulated by the ghost of warlock Judah Zachary.

Original fate[edit | edit source]
In the original 1970 timeline, Hallie Stokes was killed by the ghost of warlock Judah Zachary, who had manifested himself as Gerard Stiles. Due to the manipulations in the time stream by Barnabas Collins and Julia Hoffman, the original timeline was altered. In the restructured timeline, Hallie Stokes lived.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
According to the first issue of the 2011 Dark Shadows ongoing comic book series by Dynamite Entertainment, Hallie Stokes left Collinsport in 1971, shortly after the events of the TV series. Her final fate is unknown.

- The character of Hallie Stokes was created by director Henry Kaplan and writer Sam Hall based upon concepts originally developed by Dan Curtis and Art Wallace.
- Actress Kathleen Cody also played Carrie Stokes, who was the granddaughter of Ben Stokes and the 19th century ancestor to Hallie Stokes.
