After coordinating with Georgia Peaches, Cassie Hack and Vlad quit their job picking apples in Poughkeepsie, New York and travel to Brookline, Massachusetts, where they begin investigating an alleged haunted college called the Franco-Belle College for Women. They speak with a campus nurse named Linda Marsh, who also happens to be a paranormal investigator. Nurse Marsh tells Cassie about the history of the school and how its many strange occurrences may be linked to the 15th century blood countess known as Elizabeth Bathory.
The Thunderguard poster seen in this issue is an obvious pastiche of characters from the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise including the characters of He-Man, Beast Man, Skeletor, and Evil-Lynn.
Two of the action figures seen in Chris' room are intended as the characters of Invincible and Superman, with minor differences so as to avoid copyright infringement.
