The Grudge is an American feature film of the horror genre with an emphasis on ghost fiction. It is a remake of the 2002 Japanese film Ju-on: The Grudge. The movie was written and directed by franchise creator Takashi Shimizu and co-written by Stephen Susco. It was presented by Columbia Pictures and produced by Ghost House Pictures. It premiered in the United States on October 22nd, 2004.

- The tagline for this film is, "It never forgives. It never forgets".
- Production on The Grudge began on January 26th, 2004. Principal shooting concluded in April and additional scenes were reshot for the film in July.
- The Grudge was released to DVD by Sony Pictures on February 1st, 2005. The unrated director's cut was released on May 17th.
- Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar is best known for playing the role of Buffy Summers in the American supernatural television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- Takako Fuji, who plays the ghost Kayako, did all of her own stunts in the film. No animatronics or props were used to create her erie discontorted scenes where she is crawling down the steps of the house.
- Takako Fuji also played Kayako in the original Ju-on: The Grudge.
- Actor Jason Behr also appeared in the "Lie to Me" episode Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar.
