Omen
An omen is a mystical and mythological portent predicting an event or series of events destined to take place in the future. Omens differ from other types of predictions in that they are often seen as bearing negative signficance. Omens often fortell the coming of great disasters, plagues, the rise of evil and even the Biblical Apocalypse. In Christian eschatology, the Book of Revelations speaks of the Seven Seals, a series of signs which describe the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Conquest, War, Famine, Death) and predict the end of the world. In horror fiction, these concepts were represented at great length in season five of the TV series Supernatural. The most popularly known representation of an ill omen in the horror genre however is in The Omen film series, which chronicles the birth and rise of Damien Thorn, the Antichrist. Four films were made in the series and the original movie was remade in 2006.
