Marvel Universe
The Marvel Universe refers to the internal shared continuity of titles published by Marvel Comics. The term may ably to all titles published under Marvel's name, or may specifically refer to the mainstream continuity of the large majority of their titles, which has been given the reality designation of Earth-616. Not all material relating to the horror genre corresponds to the Earth-616 continuity. For example, Earth-2149 is the reality designation in which many of Earth's heroes and villains have been turned into zombies. This is also known as the "Marvel Zombies" universe. By and large, the setting of the mainstream Marvel Universe is one populated by super-powered costumed heroes and their equally flamboyant adversaries, or, super-villains. However, there is still a strong presence of the horror genre, and there have been many characters in the Marvel Universe who fall under this category. The most famous of such individuals is Dracula, who is the Lord of all vampires. There are also tragic figures such as Jack Russell who is cursed to become a werewolf on the nights of the full moon, Michael Morbius, who is a pseudo-vampire, Johnny Blaze, whose soul has been bonded to the Ghost Rider, Ted Sallis, who was transformed into an empathic muck monster dubbed the Man-Thing, as well as Simon Garth, who was murdered then resurrected as a zombie. When it comes to evil in the Marvel Universe however, one needs look no further than the grand-daddy of all demonic personages, Mephisto - who is the Marvel Universe's equivalent to Satan.
