Girl is a term used to describe someone of the female gender. Typically, the word is used when describing a female of a decidedly young age, but has also been used interchangeably when describing an adult woman. In horror fiction, there are many characters who are identified only as "Girl", or they may be given a numeric designation if there are several such characters.

Actress Virginia Dunnam was credited as "girl" in the 1978 predatory animal film Piranha.

Actress Kay Panabaker played a key character known only as "The Girl" in the "Forgiving" episode of the CW Network television series Angel.
