"Fathers" is the title to the third issue of the Ghost Rider & Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The story was written by Howard Mackie with artwork by Adam Kubert and inks by Chris Warner. It was colored by Gregory Wright and lettered by Janice Chiang. The story was edited by Bobbie Chase. This issue shipped with an October, 1992 cover date and carries a cover price of $1.75 per copy (US).

Plot

Lilith recruits another of her Lilin named Skinner to bring her skin of Johnny Blaze. Skinner tracks Blaze to Dutchess County, New York, but Blaze succeeds in devastating Skinner with multiple blasts from his Hellfire shotgun. Miraculously, Skinner survives.

Notes & Trivia

The character of Johnny Blaze was created by writers Gary Friedrich & Roy Thomas and artist Mike Ploog. He first appeared as the title story in Marvel Spotlight #5 in August, 1972. The character of Danny Ketch, the Ghost Rider, was created by writer Howard Mackie and artists Javier Saltares and Mark Texeira. He first appeared in Ghost Rider, Volume 3 #1 in May, 1990 in a story titled "Life's Blood". He was the main character from that series and also had a co-starring role in the companion title Ghost Rider & Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance. This issue is approved by the Comics Code Authority. The tagline for this issue is "Another of Lilith's offspring kills for Mommie Dearest!" This issue is reprinted in the Spirits of Vengeance: Rise of the Midnight Sons trade paperback collection, released in October, 2016. Lilith, Mother of Demons takes the place of Ghost Rider in the cover price/CCA box. Johnny Blaze injured Lilith in Darkhold: Pages from the Books of Sins #1.
