Gallagher's Junkyard is a junkyard located in Brooklyn, New York. It borders Cypress Hills Cemetery. Around the year 1990, young Danny Ketch and his sister Barbara were exploring the cemetery, searching for the grave of Harry Houdini. They ran afoul of a street gang known as the Cypress Pool Jokers and were forced to retreat outside the cemetery. Compounding the situation was the presence of two more gangs; the ruthless henchmen of the criminal overlord the Kingpin and the Ninja assassins of the mysterious Deathwatch. As the two bore witness to a firefight that erupted between the two cartels, Barbara found herself the victim of a crossbow bolt to the chest. Terrified, Danny carried her back into the junkyard where he found shelter between two towering piles of debris. As Barbara's life blood drained away, Danny propped her up against an abandoned motorcycle. He noted that the cycle appeared to be too new and pristine to be found in the middle of a junkyard. He rested his hand upon the gas tank cap, not realizing that the mysterious Medallion of Power had been affixed to it. Dannys' touch activated the device, transforming him into the Spirit of Vengeance known as the Ghost Rider. The motorcycle roared to life and the Ghost Rider scooped Barbara up and rode out of the junkyard with her. [1]
