Friday the 13th: The Series, also known as Friday's Curse, was a American-Canadian television series which ran in first-run syndication from 1987 to 1990. The show was created by Frank Mancuso, Jr., who named the title after the Friday the 13th movie franchise in order to draw in the audiences of those films. However, the series had no connection with the film series and featured its own storylines.
Premise[]
The show centered on the fallout from a deal with the devil made by Lewis Vendredi to sell cursed antiques in exchange for immortality and magical powers. When Vendredi tried to break the deal, the devil killed Vendredi and took his soul due to the pact being broken. After his death, his antique shop, renamed Curious Goods, was inherited by his niece, Micki Foster, and her cousin Ryan Dallion. Lewis's old friend, occultist Jack Marshak, came into the picture and informed them of the cursed antiques. The series followed Ryan, Micki, and Jack as they tracked down the cursed objects and returned them to a vault to be locked away. In season three, a recurring character by the name of Johnny Ventura was upgraded to the main cast as a departing Ryan's replacement and remained until the show's final broadcast.
