Freddy's Nightmares was an American television series loosely based on the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series. The series was produced by New Line Cinema's television production company, New Line Television, as well Lorimar Telepictures and Warner Bros. Television. The series lasted for two seasons from 1988 to 1990, spanning a total of forty-four episodes. Freddy's Nightmares was an anthology series with a format similar to that of shows such as Tales from the Crypt. It was hosted by Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger who introduced stories set in the town of Springwood, Ohio - the provincial setting from the Nightmare films. Although the episodes were tangentially tied to Nightmare continuity, Freddy himself only had minimal involvement, typically appearing only in bumper segments interjected throughout each episode. Similar to Tales from the Crypts Crypt Keeper, Freddy interjected his own puns and morbid humor into each episode. The final episode of the series aired on March 11th, 1990.
