- The title of this episode is a pun on a lyric from the song "It's My Party". The most well known version of the song was recorded and performed by Lesley Gore in 1963. It appeared on the b-side of the album I'll Cry If I Want To. The song is notable for being the first hit single for producer Quincy Jones. The first lyric from the chorus is "It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to...".
- Another TV episode that shares a similar title is the thirteenth episode of season two of the North American remake of Being Human. The episode is called "It's My Party and I'll Die If I Want To" and aired on Syfy on April 9th, 2012.
