Frank Wisbar was a German film director, screenwriter and producer. He was born in Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany on December 9th, 1899. He emigrated to the United States in 1939. His first work in the genre was directing the first film adaptation of Edgar Alan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart in 1939. In 1946 he directed Strangler of the Swamp for Producers Releasing Corporation. Wisbar also co-wrote the story treatment for the film. Later that year, he directed the sequel to 1940's The Devil Bat entitled Devil Bat's Daughter (also produced by PRC). Wisbar served as producer on the film as well.
Frank Wisbar passed away in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany on March 17th, 1967 at the age of 67.
