The Final Girl Returns is an American independent film short of the slasher subgenre of horror with some elements of science fiction thrown in. It was written and directed by Alexandria Perez. It premiered at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival on August 10th, 2019.
Plot[]
A young unidentified man finds himself the survivor of a killer at a cabin. Realizing that he was originally fated to die, the driver is now caught in a time loop wherein he encounters a different "final girl" survivor as they frantically stumble out onto the California desert highway. The man gives them the opportunity to change their fates, noting that they can re-write the ending.
Finally breaking free of the recursive loop, the driver encounters the killer, who bears a skull mask of a dead animal. Taking up a katana from the trunk of his car, he approaches the killer, who stands in the middle of the road with a machete. The two lunge at each other for their final showdown.
