Final Destination 2 is an American horror film of the supernatural thriller subgenre. It was directed by David R. Ellis and is the sequel to the 2000 film Final Destination. It was produced by New Line Cinema and released theatrically in the United States on January 31st, 2003. The film stars A.J. Cook, Michael Landes, Ali Larter, Jonathan Cherry, Keegan Connor Tracy, T.C. Carson, Lynda Boyd and horror movie icon Tony Todd, reprising his role as the mysterious funeral director William Bludworth. Like Devon Sawa before her, A.J. Cook plays a youth who has a premonition of a massive catastrophe that would claim the lives of many people unless she intervenes. Doing so however, challenges the capricious whims of fate, and Death will not be cheated a second time. As Cook's character Kimberly tries to avoid Death's hand, she learns how the destinies of she and her friends are all interconnected to those of the survivors of Flight 180 from the first Final Destination.
Final Destination 2 closed out of theaters on June 5th, 2003.
Final Destination 2 was released on DVD by New Line Home Video on July 22nd, 2003. It was released on Blu-ray on August 30th, 2011. The movie is included on the Final Destination: 4 Film Favorites DVD collection, along with Final Destination, Final Destination 3 and The Final Destination. The collection was released on September 7th, 2010. [1]
This is the first horror film directed by David R. Ellis. He previously directed only one other film, 1996's Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco. Ellis also directs 2006's Snakes on a Plane, 2008's Asylum, 2009's The Final Destination and 2010's Shark Night 3D.
Tony Todd and Ali Larter are the only cast members from the first Final Destination to return for the sequel.
