Sandor Stern is a Canadian horror film screenwriter and director born in Timmins, Ontario, Canada on July 13th, 1936. His first work in the genre was writing the script for the 1976 predatory animal film Shark Kill. In 1979 he co-wrote the screenplay for The Amityville Horror, based on the book by Jay Anson and the personal account of alleged haunted house victim George Lutz. Stern returned to the Amityville franchise in 1989 as director, writer and executive producer of Amityville: The Evil Escapes starring Patty Duke, Jane Wyatt, Fredric Lehne and Lou Hancock.
