A prostitute is a woman who accepts payment (usually in the form of money, but can be other things such as goods or services in exchange for sex or sexual favors). The technical term for this particular occupation is "Ho", though other phrases such as "Skank ho" may also apply. A less favorable, but nonetheless accurate term for a prostitute is a whore. Another term that is used in common parlance is hooker.
In Taste the Blood of Dracula, several English men attended a function at an exclusive gentleman's club, which included prostitution and a snake dancer.
In Freddy vs. Jason, Charlie Linderman claimed to have lost his virginity to a prostitute. However, as this was revealed in a dream sequence had by Lori Campbell, the validity of the claim is called into question.
On Penny Dreadful, the character of Brona Croft turned to prostitution as a means of earning income after she lost her job at a laundry.
In the film Microwave Massacre, there are two prostitutes, that become victims of cannibal killer Donald. One of them is named Dee Dee Dee because her mother had a stammer when she gave her child a name.

- Farraday girl
- Farraday girl (which redirects to this page) refers to any number of otherwise unidentified prostitutes featured in the 1996 horror film Mary Reilly. These particular ladies of the evening worked at a brothel in London, England under the guidance of a woman named Mrs. Farraday. There were actresses credited in the film as playing Farraday girls, not including other random whores that popped up throughout the course of the movie. These actresses include: Ellie Crockett, Robbi Stevens, Kadamba, Evelyn Doggart, Piu Fan Lee, Mimi Potworowska, Samantha Hones and Julia Hagen.
