Josette du Près is a fictional socialite and a recurring character featured in the original 1960s daytime Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. Josette du Pres was first introduced as a ghost haunting Collinwood. As early as episode 4, the chilling sounds of a sobbing woman can be heard in the Collinwood foyer. This was long before there was any intent on the part of producers to progress the character they way they had in future episodes. Florence Stanley provided the voice of the crying Josette in this episode and was credited as "sobbing woman". The character made her first true introduction in a storyline colloquially referred to as the "1795 Flashback". In these stories, she was played by actress Kathryn Leigh Scott. A version of the Josette character also made appearances in the 1991 Dark Shadows revival series where she was played by Joanna Going. The character was re-imagined for the 2012 Dark Shadows feature film and was portrayed by Bella Heathcote.
