New moon
In astronomical terminology, the phrase new moon is the lunar phase that occurs when the Moon, in its monthly orbital motion around Earth, lies between Earth and the Sun, and is therefore in conjunction with the Sun as seen from Earth. At this time, the dark (unilluminated) portion of the Moon faces almost directly toward Earth, so that the Moon is not visible to the naked eye. In the role-playing game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the New moon is assigned to the werewolf auspice of Ragabash. A Ragabash werewolf will take on the role of a trickster or jester to ease the moods of fellow packmates, or perhaps to enlighten them through the folly of humility. New Moon could also refer to a 2006 novel written by author Stephanie Meyer. It is the second book in Meyer's The Twilight Saga series. The book was adapted into the Twilight: New Moon feature film in 2009.

Nightmare
A nightmare is a dream that can cause a strong negative emotional response from the sleeper, typically fear and/or horror. The dream may contain situations of danger, discomfort, psychological or physical terror. Sufferers usually awaken in a state of distress and may be unable to return to sleep for a prolonged period of time. Nightmares can have physical causes such as sleeping in an uncomfortable or awkward position, having a fever, or psychological causes such as stress and anxiety. Eating before bed, which triggers an increase in the body's metabolism and brain activity, is a potential stimulus for nightmares.
Nightmare was also the title to a 1964 British film directed by Freddie Francis and produced by Hammer Film Productions.

Nosferatu
The Nosferatu are a clan of vampires featured in the Vampire: The Masquerade role-playing game. In the original 1st-3rd editions of the game, they were one of the original thirteen clans descended from Caine, the first vampire. More than most other clans, Nosferatu are the least human in terms of physical appearance. They are characterized by their bald heads, extended fangs, pointed ears, bloodshot eyes and razor-sharp claws. Because of this, the Nosferatu are usually set apart from most other vampire clans, but their common physical condition makes them one of the more unified and closely-knit clans. The Nosferatu tend to create havens in dank and dark places such as sewers - safely hidden from the prying eyes of humanity. The Nosferatu are excellent scavengers and information brokers and are known for creating vast spy networks throughout their various subterranean warrens and tunnels.

Nursery rhyme
A nursery rhyme is a rhyming song often used to lull children into sleeping, hence the term "Lullabies". The innocence of a nursery rhyme is often used in stark contrast to the dark intensity of horror films, sometimes adding to the atmospheric tenor of a film with a symbolic resonance of corrupted youth. In the horror genre, the most famous nursery rhyme is found in the A Nightmare on Elm Street films, the lyrics of which are:
One, two
Freddy's coming for you
Three, four
Better lock your door
Five, six
Grab your crucifix
Seven, eight
Going to stay up late
Nine, ten
Never sleep again

Nyctophobia
Nyctophobia, sometimes referred to Scotophobia is a pathological fear of the dark. The fear of darkness is a psychologically-impacted feeling of being disposed from comfort to a fear-evoking state. It is triggered by the brains's disfigured perception of what would or could happen when isolated within a dark environment. The second episode of the FEARnet web series Fear Clinic, entitled "Scotophobia", focused on the symptoms of Nyctophobia and the efforts to cure those afflicted by it.
