The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the primary investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice, serving as both a federal criminal investigative body and a domestic intelligence agency. The FBI has investigative jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal crimes.

Red Dragon[]

In the 2002 adaptation of the Thomas Harris novel Red Dragon, Jack Crawford is the head of Behavioral Sciences for the FBI. Profiler Will Graham captures cannibal killer Hannibal Lecter, but at great cost to himself, forcing him into retirement. Years later, Crawford cajoles Will into coming back to the agency to help them find the "Tooth Fairy" killer, Francis Dolarhyde.

Silence of the Lambs[]

Rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling is asked to conduct a profile of captured serial killer Hannibal Lecter. The two engage in a mutual exchange of information and Lecter's interest in Starling prompts him to give the F.B.I. information about an at-large killer dubbed "Buffalo Bill". Based on Lecter's findings, the Feds conduct a raid on the suspect's hideaway, but it is Starling who actually finds him first.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The (2003)[]

In the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in cooperation with members of the Travis County Sheriff's Department, made a gruesome discovery on August 19th, 1973. The bodies of several victims were discovered at the Hewitt residence in Fuller, Texas. As Sheriff's department officers inspected the crime scene, members of the F.B.I. cataloged evidence and loaded bodies into body bags.
