The Eye is an American feature film of the supernatural thriller subgenre. It is a remake of the Chinese horror movie Gin gwai, aka "The Eye" by The Pang Brothers. The American version was directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud with a screenplay written by Sebastian Gutierrez based on the original script by The Pang Brothers and Jojo Hui. It was presented by Lions Gate Entertainment & Paramount Vantage, and produced by VN Productions and C/W Productions in association with Vertigo Entertainment. The film premiered in Hollywood, California on January 31st, 2008. It opened to national release in the United States and Canada on February 1st, 2008.
