The Exorcist is an American live-action television series of the horror genre, with an emphasis on demonic possession, exorcism, and Satanism. It is based on the Exorcist multimedia franchise, which began in 1971 with the novel The Exorcist by author William Peter Blatty. The book was adapted into a major motion picture in 1973 by director William Friedkin. The TV series serves as a sequel to the original movie while ignoring all of the previous film sequels and prequels. The show was produced by New Neighborhood, Morgan Creek Productions and 20th Century Fox Television and began airing on the FOX Network in the United States on September 3rd, 2016.

There are three core actors that extend across multiple seasons, with a line-up of main cast members that are exclusive to the seasons in which they appear. The Exorcist stars Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels as Catholic priests Father Tomas Ortega and Father Marcus Keane (respectively), while also starring Kurt Egyiawan as Father Bennett. The Season One main cast line-up also includes Hannah Kasulka and Brianne Howey as teenage sisters Casey and Kat Rance, with Alan Ruck as Henry Rance, and Geena Davis as Angela Rance.

Herrera, Daniels and Egyiawan all returned for season two, which now also included Brianna Hildebrand as Verity, Zuleikha Robinson as Mouse, Li Jun Li as Rose, and John Cho as Andy Kim.
