Synopsis[]
Ten years ago, Ernest Fairchild goes into his foster parents' bedroom complaining that he is cold and doesn't have a blanket. He meekly asks if he can sleep in bed with his parents. Foster father Buford King and his wife/girlfriend (?) Eunice are in the midst of sexual foreplay. Buford is an abusive bastard and decides to warm Ernie up by taking a hot curling iron to him.
In the present, Ernest Fairchild is resurrected from his execution as an undead maniac gifted with supernatural powers. He communes with a smiley-face badge of evil button upon his leather jacket named Smiley, who talks to Ernie and guides his actions. A prison guard fires four shots into Ernie's chest, but the undead boy draws upon his supernatural power to get back up. Ernie grabs the guard and uses his soul perception to determine that this man is a murderer. With his burning touch, he sears the man's head from his body.
Entering the prison block, he finds Buford King, who runs away from him. Buford somehow manages to get into the prison yard as Ernie gives chase. Ernie releases a wave of energy that knocks several people over. One of the attending reporters, Carmen Esposito, orders her cameraman Phil to get everything on camera. Several civilian protesters leap upon Ernie hoping to restrain him while Smiley repeatedly and incredulously exclaims "Seriously?!" Ernie twists his head around and reads the aura of each of his attackers. Deeming them all to be evil, he summons a massive bolt of energy that rains down from the sky and obliterates them. Buford is clear of the blast, but is now demanding to be let back into the prison.
Smiley warns Ernie against using too much power. As he never completed the ritual that required the sacrifice of 666 human sinners, he only has a measure of his potential full power, and it is draining quickly. Killing Buford King will complete the ritual that began five years ago. At this point, a squad of armed guards surround Evil Ernie and point their weapons at him. Smiley says, "Ernie, remember what I said about not using your new powers?" When Ernie tells him "Yeah...", Smiley says "Fuck it".
Inside the prison, a guard named R. "Mac" McDaniel apprehends Buford King. Prison physician Thana Thomas is present as warden Samuel Straw enters the room. The warden is more than willing to hand Buford over to Evil Ernie if it means that the dead boy will cease the carnage. Buford, not willing to be handed over to his crazy foster son, grabs McDaniel's gun and shoots him in the abdomen.
Outside, Evil Ernie slaughters his way through random civilians. He approaches reporter Carmen Eposito, but upon seeing the word "trechery" [sic] upon her forehead, determines that she is a sinner and sets her head on fire.
Ernie then re-enters the prison and goes to the room where warden Samuel Straw is with the dying prison guard. Perceiving that the warden is a pedophile, he decides to punish this particular sinner by using his burning touch on his crotch, which burns completely through to his backside.
Meanwhile, the prison priest goes to the rectory and begins praying. Amidst the prayer, a wave of light descends upon him and his eyes begin to glow.
Evil Ernie blasts his way through cell blocks 1-6 looking for Buford. When he gets to cell block 6, he finds Buford holding Thana Thomas hostage. Ernie goes to attack, but his power is now depleted. Smiley throws him an "I told you so". Picking up on this, Buford shouts to the other prisoners, "He's outta juice. Rush him!". The inmates begin to dog-pile on top of Evil Ernie.
The end? Probably.
