Eric Matthews is a fictional police detective and one of the main protagonists featured in the Saw film series. Played by actor Donnie Wahlberg, he appeared in the 2005 film Saw II. Wahlberg reprised the role of Eric Matthews in Saw III in 2006, and Saw IV in 2005. Archival footage of the character was featured in Saw V in 2008.

- Originally, Amanda Young was supposed to kill Eric during the scene where he taunts her for not being Jigsaw after attacking her in the tunnels. This was changed by the producers, however, who wanted to open the door for Matthews' return in the sequel film, Saw IV so his character's fate was left unknown following the scene in Saw III.

- ↑ The setting for the series is left deliberately ambiguous, but a scene in Saw V shows a character typing out Agent Strahm's phone number, which has a 212 area code. This is the area code for Manhattan. However, another scene shows a New Jersey license plate on Strahm's car, so the actual location of the series remains inconclusive.
