End of Days is an American horror film of the supernatural thriller subgenre. It was directed by Peter Hyams who also served as director of photography on the movie. The script was written by Andrew W. Marlowe and it was produced by Marc Abraham, Thomas A. Bliss and Armyan Bernstein for Universal Pictures. It was released theatrically in the United States on November 24th, 1999. End of Days stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as police detective Jericho Crane, Gabriel Byrne as the baddest of the bad, ole Lucifer himself and Robin Tunney as Christine York.

  • The tagline for this film is, "Prepare for the end".
  • Production on End of Days began on November 1st, 1998. Principal filming concluded on May 3rd, 1999. The movie was shot primarily in Los Angeles, California with some scenes being filmed at Linda Vista Hospital on St. Louis Street, St. James' Episcopal Church on Wilshire Boulevard and St. Vincent's Catholic Church on Adams Boulevard. Other scenes were filmed at Bryant Park in Manhattan, New York.
  • Marcus Nispel was originally tapped to direct, but bowed out due to embarrassment after a list of his studio demands went public. He would go on to direct the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2003 and the remake of Friday the 13th in 2009.
  • This film originally had a different ending. In the original cut, Jericho Cane resurrected himself after being impaled on the sword and walked off with Christine Christine York. Test audiences disliked this, so the ending was changed so that Jericho remained deceased. The alternate ending was used in the novelization of the film.
  • End of Days is the final film to be pressed into laserdisc format in the United States. [1]
  • Other actresses considered for the role of Christine York include Kate Winslet, Jennifer Connelly, and Liv Tyler.
  • Sven-Ole Thorsen makes a brief, uncredited appearance in the film as a thug. Sven is a bodybuilder and actor who has appeared in nearly all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's films in some capacity.
  • "End of Days" is also the title to episode 21 from season 7 of the WB Network television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "End of Days" is also the title to episode 13 of series 1 of the BBC science fiction television series Torchwood.
  • Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is also known for playing Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer in the 1987 sci-fi movie Predator.
  • Actress Robin Tunney previously starred in The Craft as up-and-coming witch Sarah Bailey.
  • Gabriel Byrne and Kevin Pollack co-starred with one another in The Usual Suspects. Byrne also played a priest in the movie Stigmata, which involved themes similar to that of End of Days.
