"Eastwick" is an American television series that aired on ABC from September to December of 2009. The series was based upon the 1984 The Witches of Eastwick novel by John Updike as well as the 1987 The Witches of Eastwick feature film. The pilot episode was directed by David Nutter and written by Maggie Friedman and Michael Cristofer. It first aired on Wednesday evening on September 23rd, 2009. The plot of the series follows the lives of three women, Joanna Frankel, Kat Gardener and Roxie Torcoletti, who encounter a charismatic man named Darryl Van Horne who, unbeknownst to them, is in fact the Devil. Using his powers to ignite their hearts' desires, Van Horn sets into motion a series of events that imbues his three "witches" with great abilities.
