Eastwick was a short-lived American television series that aired on ABC from September to December of 2009. The series was based upon the 1984The Witches of Eastwick novel by John Updike as well as the 1987The Witches of Eastwick feature film. The plot of the series followed the lives of three women, Joanna Frankel, Kat Gardener and Roxie Torcoletti who encountered a charismatic man named Darryl Van Horne who, unbeknownst to them, was in fact the Devil. Using his powers to ignite their hearts' desires, Van Horne set into a motion a series of events that would imbue his three "witches" with great abilities. On November 9th, 2009, ABC declined to order any additional episodes of Eastwick, effectively cancelling the series. The remaining ordered episodes were still slated to air, starting back on November 25, 2009. However, in early December, it was officially announced by ABC that Ugly Betty would be moving from Friday nights to Eastwick's time slot on Wednesdays starting on January 6th, 2010. With this move, episodes 12 and 13 of Eastwick had been shelved, with plans for them to air in the UK only.
