The Eagle is a fictional drinking establishment seen in the 1960s daytime Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. It was featured in a storyline commonly referred to as the "1795 Flashback". The Eagle is a precursor to the modern-era watering hole, the Blue Whale.
History[]
The Eagle was a small pub found in the town of Collinsport, Maine. It was established some time in the 18th century and was the most popular drinking establishment in the area.

In 1796, Collinwood matriarch Naomi Collins learned that her son Barnabas, whom she believed to be dead, was actually a vampire. The horror of it proved too much for her and she took her own life by imbibing a vial of poison. Naomi likely would have never learned about Barnabas had it not been for the spiteful manipulations of a man named Nathan Forbes, who told Naomi where she could find Barnabas' coffin. When Barnabas learned of his mother's death, he blamed Forbes for driving her to suicide. He found Nathan at The Eagle and the two confronted one another. Nathan shot Barnabas with his revolver, but the bullets proved ineffective against him. Barnabas didn't want to kill Nathan just yet, but rather, he wanted him to suffer - waiting for the moment when he would finally take his life. Barnabas told him that by the stroke of 9:00, Nathan Forbes would be dead. [1]
The Eagle continued to exist, servicing customers in the Collinsport area as late as 1840. It is generally accepted that the establishment closed down some time after that.

- Barmaid
- The Barmaid at The Eagle was responsible for serving drinks and cleaning up after sloppy patrons. It was likely a very unsatisfying way to spend a Saturday night. in the modern-era of parallel time, Buffie Harrington worked at The Eagle as a barmaid.
- Innkeeper
- The innkeeper of The Eagle was also the bartender. Given the proclivities of family relations in the town of Collinsport, there is every chance that the innkeeper may in fact be a distant relation of Blue Whale bartender Bob Rooney. The innkeeper was steadfastly wiping down the bar top on the night that Ben Stokes first met Maude Browning.
