Dorian Gray is an Italian-German-British co-produced feature film of the supernatural thriller and dark fantasy subgenres of horror. It is based on the Oscar Wilde novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, published in 1890 in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine. This adaptation was directed by Massimo Dallamano, who also co-wrote the screenplay along with Marcello Coscia. Additional writers on the film include Günter Ebert and Renato Romano. It was produced by Etablissement Sargon, Sargon Film and Terra-Filmkunst in association with Towers of London Productions. It premiered in West Germany on April 24th, 1970. It was then screened in Italy on August 17th, 1970. The movie made its U.S. premiere in New York City, New York on December 9th, 1970 before being screened again in San Francisco, California on February 10th, 1971. The film stars Helmut Berger in the titular role of Dorian Gray, along with Richard Todd as Basil Hallward. Herbert Lom as Henry Wotton, Marie Liljedahl as Sybil Vane, Margaret Lee as Gwendolyn Wotton and Maria Rohm as Alice Campbell.
