Dean Batali is a television story editor and teleplay writer. In the horror genre, he worked on seasons one and two of the WB Network television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He was a story editor on all twelve episodes from season one and served as executive story editor on all twenty-two episodes of season two. He co-wrote the scripts for five episodes of the show, along with Rob Des Hotel. He co-wrote season one's, "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" as well as "The Puppet Show". For season two, Dean co-wrote "The Dark Age", "Phases" and "Killed by Death".
Outside of the horror genre, Dean Batali was an executive producer on the sitcom series That '70s Show as well as a teleplay writer on fifteen episodes. In 2007 Dean wrote seventeen episodes of The ½ Hour News Hour. In 2011 he worked as executive producer on What's Up, Warthogs!.
