Notes & Trivia
- Development of the series was first announced on September 9th, 2019, and stated to be a modern-day continuation of the original Dark Shadows series, as opposed to a re-imagining. Warner Bros. Television partnered with Amasia Entertainment to develop the series for the CW Network. From Amasia Entertainment's camp, executive producers included Michael Helfant, Bradley Gallo, Tracy Mercer, Tracy Curtis, and Cathy Curtis. [1]
- Showrunner Mark B. Perry addressed concerns about the continuity of the new series, assuring fans that "This version will treat the show’s mythology with the same reverence given to Star Trek, but will also make the show accessible for audiences who aren’t yet familiar with the macabre world of the Collinses", while also teasing the notion that some liberties may be taken regarding the fabled Collins family history. [2][3]
- Executive producer Tracy Curtis is the daughter of Dark Shadows franchise creator and executive producer Dan Curtis. Dan Curtis passed away on March 27th, 2006.
