A séance has been held in the great house of Collinwood, a séance which has suspended time and sent one girl on a an uncertain and frightening journey into the past, back to the year 1795. Of the secrets which still haunt the Collins family today, one secret concerns a man who is dead but still lives, and the horror of his existence can bring untold grief to those alive now as well as those in the centuries to come.

Episode 440 is an untitled episode of the daytime Gothic soap opera series Dark Shadows. It was directed by Lela Swift and written by Sam Hall. It was produced by Robert Costello and first aired on ABC on Friday, March 1st, 1968. It is part of an ongoing storyline commonly referred to as the "1795 Flashback" story. In this episode, vampire Barnabas Collins finally has enough of Maude Browning and kills her. He leaves her body in Reverend Trask's bed as part of a fiendish plot to frame him for her murder.
