A seance has been held in the great house at Collinwood, a seance which has suspended time and space, and sent Victoria Winters on an uncertain and frightening journey back to the past, to the year 1795. And here, in this deserted, haunted house, there's been a meeting. One man has drawn the woman he loves from her grave and looked upon the face of death.

Episode 431 of Dark Shadows was directed by Lela Swift and written by Sam Hall. It first aired on February 19th, 1968. This episode is part of a storyline commonly referred to as the "1795 Flashback" story. In this episode, Barnabas Collins has Ben Stokes move his coffin to the basement of the Old House, preferring instead to rest in the place where Josette and he were happiest. Daniel Collins begins snooping about the Old House and begins asking Ben about what it is in the basement. Abigail Collins catches Daniel and interrogates him. She also tries to pry him for information about Victoria Winters.

- Dark Shadows was created by executive producer and showrunner Dan Curtis. Major storylines were developed by writers Art Wallace and Sam Hall. The original daytime Gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows aired on ABC from June of 1966 to April of 1971 spanning a total of 1,245 episodes. Two spin-off films House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows were released in theaters in 1970 and 1971. A remake series of Dark Shadows was produced in 1991 and ran for thirteen episodes on NBC. In 2012, director Tim Burton crafted a comical reboot of Dark Shadows as a high-budget feature film.
