Dan Curtis (August 12th, 1927 - March 27th, 2006) was the series creator and executive producer of the original Dark Shadows television series. He adapted a popular storyline from the series into the 1970 feature-length film, House of Dark Shadows. He then produced a quasi-sequel film called Night of Dark Shadows, which included a brand new storyline never before used in the series (although it did reinvent notable characters from the series such as Quentin Collins and Gerard Stiles.
Curtis went on to direct two more horror films. In 1973, he revisited his vampire roots by tackling another remake of Bram Stoker's classic Dracula. That same year, he produced a television version of Frankenstein. Three years later he directed the 1976 film Burnt Offerings.
