Curse of the Demon is a British feature film of the Satanic cult and demonic fiction subgenres of horror. It was directed by Jacques Tourneur with a screenplay written by Charles Bennett and Hal E. Chester. It is based on the 1911 short story "Casting the Runes" by author Montague R. James. The movie is a Sabre Film Production and was released in the United Kingdom under its original title Night of the Demon on November 9th, 1957. The film stars Dana Andrews as John Holden, Peggy Cummins as Joanna Harrington, Niall MacGinnis as Doctor Julian Karswell and Maurice Denham as Professor Henry Harrington.
