Courtney was the personal assistant of Margaret Booth in the late 1980s. He coordinated putting together a music festival at the closed down Camp Redwood camp site. Margaret Booth was constantly frustrated by Courtney's perceived failures at putting this concert together. Citing him as the "worst assistant ever", she shot him in the head, killing him. Courtney's spirit became one of the ghosts trapped at Camp Redwood. Along with the ghosts of other people whose deaths Margaret had a hand in, Courtney took great delight when they finally captured her and fed her piece by piece through a wood chipper.
