Contracted is an American independent feature film of the body horror and zombie fiction subgenres of horror. It was written and directed by Eric England and produced by BoulderLight Pictures and Southern Fried Films. It premiered at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland on July 7th, 2013. It premiered in the United Kingdom at Film4 FrightFest on August 24th, 2013. It was first released in the United States on October 11th, 2013 at the Chicago International Film Festival. It opened theatrically in the United States through IFC Films on November 22nd, 2013. The film stars Najarra Townsend as Samantha Williams, along with Caroline Williams as Samantha's mother, and Alice Macdonald as Alice. Samantha is the victim of a rape that has left her with a very unique sexually transmitted disease - one that is slowly transmogrifying her into one of the undead.
