The Collinsport court house is a fictional location featured in the 1960s Dark Shadows television series. The court and jail house were featured in several notable storylines, as well as flashback era stories and parallel time stories.

The Collinsport public square was located on the same property as the court house and jail. During the 19th century, the public square was often used for executions.

History[]

In 1840, Quentin Collins was accused of practicing witchcraft, which he allegedly used to murder a man named Mordecai Grimes. He was confined to the jail at the court house until an official tribunal could convene. The tribunal was headed up by a man named Judge Vail. Quentin's second cousin, Desmond Collins, acted as Quentin's defense attorney. They tried to get a postponement on the trial, but Judge Vail denied it. [1]

At the conclusion of the trial, Judge Vail rendered a guilty verdict against Quentin Collins. Barnabas Collins attempted to file an appeal, but the judge reminded him that standard law did not apply to cases of witchcraft. He decreed that Quentin was to be beheaded in the Collinsport public square. [2]
