Tony Maylam is a British film director, writer, and producer, as well as an accomplished documentarian. He was born in London, England on May 26th, 1943. His first work in the horror genre was the 1981 slasher film The Burning, which he also co-wrote.
In The Burning, actor Lou David, who played Cropsy, had difficulty with some of his initial scenes, as well as some of his later sequences. Maylam served as a "leg double" for David in the opening scene, and also performed the role in some of the kills, including the raft scene.
