Toy monkey 001 — He's just an innocent toy monkey. What could possibly go wrong?

2025 is the twenty-fifth year in the 21st century. It follows 2024 and precedes 2026. It began on a Wednesday. Monkeys, and black phones and werewolves, oh my! To say nothing of zombies (or pseudo-zombies if you prefer), which some might say we've been waiting 28 years for! We've also got murderous Disney-inspired deer, clowns in cornfields and unicorns. Yes... fricking unicorns! The first notable theatrically released horror film of 2025 is Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, which is the third installment in the "Twisted Childhood Universe" (TCU), also known as the "Poohniverse". Peter Pan "black phones" his way across rural England abducting children with promises of bringing them to "Neverland". Following the three-night limited engagement of this film, 2025 hit the ground on all fours with Wolf Man, which premiered internationally on January 16th and released theatrically in the United States on January 17th.

February is of course a time for lovers with Valentine's day falling on February 14th. It is a time of romance, flowers, candy... and murder! Seattle, Washington becomes the last leg in a tapestry of death as the Heart Eyes killer targets amorous couples in Heart Eyes. Then there's that damn monkey. You know which one I mean. That little grinning bastard who brings death with every beat of his little toy drum. Twin brothers Hal and Bill Shelburn vie for control of the mysterious cursed "not a toy", inadvertently causing seemingly random and brutal deaths to those within their vicinity in The Monkey. Now if you are looking for riveting female androids, well, you are in for a treat, for there is not one, but two to look out for in 2025. The first is Iris - a lifelike sex doll that doesn't know she's a robot in Companion. When it comes to artificial intelligence, its important to emphasize the "intelligence" part over the "artificial". But Iris is not alone in this genre-bending sci-fi landscape. Summer heats up when everyone's favorite ear-ripping, paper cutter slinging, dancing robo-chick returns in M3GAN 2.0, but in order to deal with a bigger and better model named Amelia, M3GAN is going to need an upgrade. Like the tagline says, it's THIS bitch vs. THAT bitch!
